Infiniti Says It Will Build A Luxury Version Of The Leaf EV
The launch of a luxury Infiniti electric car based on the Nissan Leaf hinges on a standard process of induction charging being introduced around the world.

The new Infiniti will have a completely different exterior and interior from the Nissan hatchback and it will be used to showcase induction technology, which does away with charging cables.

“The whole concept of not having to couple up cables to a plug socket, dragging them on the ground and on you as you go, is in keeping with luxury motoring,” said Infiniti boss Andy Palmer.

Cool why spend money when you already know how to produce an item, Ok is the 2015 Mercedes S-class hybrid built from the Leaf, since it uses the Nissan hybrid system, based on battery developement. electric motor slotted between engines and transmisson seperated by two clutch systems?

Ahem, the LEAF does not have a hybrid system, it is all electric. The Infiniti LE will be based on the LEAF with an air gap induction charger and will also be all-electric.

The news here is not that Nissan is planning the Infiniti LE, the news is that it is still not out and Nissan is coming up with excuses such as a wireless charging infrastructure being in place.
