Top Gear Review Proclaims 2013 IS300h Strong Point Is "Gentle Driving" - Skip The F-Sport Option

Top Gear Review Proclaims 2013 IS300h Strong Point Is
It's pretty hard to talk about the all-new Lexus IS300h without using the word 'alternative'. Not alternative as in 'left-field' or 'edgy' or 'your mum wouldn't get it' – it most definitely isn't those things. But alternative as in alternative to a BMW 3-Series. Alternative to an Audi A4. Alternative to what almost everyone else chooses when spending £30k on a compact-ish four-door: a German two-litre diesel.

So it looks a bit different. It's all about peaceful surfaces with distinctive details. At the front, that translates into a big waisted grille and islands of swoosh-LEDs. At the back, the light clusters seem to emerge from a slash in the bodywork.

That's one goofy looking car.

Yes It Is... I recently saw one on the strip here in Vegas (with manufacturer plates) and it was shockingly 'goofy' looking.

The new IS is easily one the least pleasant looking vehicles currently in production - PERIOD.

That grille reminds me of a lamprey eel " mouth" I watched on "River Monsters." The host has one attached to his neck and the teeth/grille look similar. Scary. I believe eel is a popular in Japan.

Since most buyers dont buy these cars for the corner carving capabilities, I agree, forego the F-sport when opting for the hybrid. It has much to offer in its base trim. Hope the US gets it eventually; I predict many buyers would want it in California. Too bad getting the base model means that means you would lose the cool LFA guages. Maybe those should be a stand alone ooption. Course then no one would buy the F-Sport package. Hmmm, can't win them all.

Most people don't corner carve ever. Most metropolitan cities have learned that it's easier to write more traffic tickets than increasing taxes.

I would call its design language as stunning.
