Chrysler Is Owned By The Italians — Is It Only A Matter Of Time Before GM Is Owned By The Chinese?
Remember that whole "too big to fail thing?" Yeah, that didn't go over so well. Now Chrysler Group is owned by the Italians, which actually doesn't seem to be a bad thing if you've been keeping up with the Joneses, and General Motors is getting back on its feet again.

While it's been sometime since that bleak period of economic uncertainty only so long ago, it seems that these two specific companies just became too big for their own good. Their ability to remain agile and in line with customers just wasn't there. Don't get us wrong, Ford got nailed pretty good too; however, they were quicker to react and thus shield themselves a bit from harm's way.

Things at Chrylser have changed for the better and I'd argue that they're making the best product as far as I can recall.

General Motors, on the other hand, has had some ups and downs. Take, for example, the Camaro and Cruze — both did well. BUT the Malibu was a stinker. The next Impala? It's a toss up. The new SS? It's two/three years too late.

It seems like we could be back on the same course to destruction again if folks don't wake up in Detroit.

Given the eagerness of China's biggest companies to penetrate the U.S. market, and also the status symbol of American products in their homeland, it seems only natural that if things were to head south — again — that someone from the Far East would be in line to pick up the pieces.

It's going on with Fisker, could it happen with General Motors?

Embarrassing for me , but what I can do. This is the real world. This looks to me that GM CEO and executives have lack of love , pride, dedication ,patriotism to move forward and put high this legendary company, really sad and not even mention the new Cherokee design , no comment.

Since China already dictates to GM when and how much of their profits can be repatriated, they basically already own GM. Buy why would they buy something when they can openly steal it? It's not as though our government is ever going to do anything to upset the people who put them in the Whitehouse.

One of these senarios is the future...I'm not sure which one. 1) the economies of the major countries of the world become so interdependant that war between them will never happen and it does not matter who owns a manufacturing base, traditionally needed to support a major conflict. 2) No matter who owns the manufacturing base the country within its boundries the manufacturing base exists will confiscate the plants if needed in time of major conflict. 3) At some point the US government will for national security reasons restrict sale of certain manufacturing businesses (GM?) to foreign nationals. 4) Our government policies because both parties put party before country become more screwed up and we are screwed as a result if there is a major conflict because we lack the manufacturing base to defend ouselves adequately. Take your pick.

HughJass, you have some seriously deluded beliefs, so I take it you're a Republican?
