EVERYTHING You NEED To Know About The All-New 2014 Range Rover Sport
Though this week's big news was the official debut of the 2014 BMW X5, it seems that early opinions are mixed on that product. Some are let down by the minor changes, exterior and interior, while others are riveted for the next BMW X5 to arrive at showrooms.

I am in the earlier class of folks.

And while it seems folks around here can't gather that the Range Rover Sport and BMW X5 go head-to-head, they do. The pricing disparity isn't as large as they'd like to imagine but c'est la vie.

If you really get into the nitty gritty about the all-new Range Rover Sport, it's a fascinating piece of engineering. To really drive that home is this list compiled by Autocar's team. It features 13 facts about the all-new Sport I guarantee you didn't know before you checked out this story.

With vehicles like the Porsche Cayenne and Range Rover Sport that both can hit the track and go off road, it seems like BMW is going to have to go back to the drawing board when it reimagines the fourth generation sport-utility vehicle.

The new Range Rover Sport was developed under two banners, according to the company. “More Range Rover and more Sport” was the conclusion from customer research, and the aim of the engineering team was to create “the fastest, most agile, most responsive Land Rover ever”, with “a huge breadth of ability”.

So although the all-new Range Rover Sport shares the same PLA aluminium platform as the new Range Rover, some 75 per cent of the components – calculated by part numbers – are different from the flagship car’s...

I have owned the last two generations of Range Rover for the last 15 years and I love them.
I really like the side profile and weight loss of current RR and RRS. However am I the only one that thinks the rear styling of both cars is super wimpy?? So wimpy that I don't think I want to upgrade. I also don't like that the front has been rounded too much. lastly the Ford Explorer lights are another concern. When the 03 came out it was truly striking and I had to have it. But with these new models I'm not sure at all.

Personally, I wouldn't say "wimpy."

Disappointing design moves, yes.

BUT, when you sit in it I guarantee you'll forget about it. And from what I've been reading once you drive it, it'll be game over and you'll have one in your driveway.

I'll find out soon enough...

What is new about this info from any previous posts about the RR Sport? If you're going to stay relevant, lets talk about the next German SUV to make its debut, the Q7. That's what you want to talk about at the end of the day right?

So, will the next Q7 still look like like a pregnant whale when it's replaced? Will it still not sell as well as its competitors? Will it still have a cramped interior?

This RR Sport looks great, and I know the interior of this can look good but then red one in these photos looks like puke. Plus, can you factor in how much time you will spend on the side of the road once it breaks down?

And who cares about "off-road ability" how many of these cars go off road? You're out of touch.

@Firewombat

You must be the most irrelevant poster here to date — a fine achievement, indeed.

We've posted shots of the next-gen Audi Q7 undergoing testing. It is extremely early in the process as the vehicle is a mule right now.

Q7 cramped interior??? I have one and It's quite roomy inside. Perhaps not as large as the RRs, but bigger than the X5. Second row has tons of leg room. Sure, the third row is useless except for kids, but most are that way and I almost never use it.

How could my comment be irrelevant? Aren't you a huge fan of Audi?

Irrelevant maybe because your comments are based on what real experience?
Did you read in consumer reports that Land Rover is unreliable? Save us from this valuable information.
If you had any real experience you would know the reliability is as good as if not better than German brands.
That is my real experience from having both in the family for more than a decade. As far as off road? Yes my Land Rover has inspired me to do some serious offloading on many occasions. The oversized Audi station wagon or any other German truck outside the G, I would never be inspired to go off road.

Experience? I don't how many people that have bought LR vehicles would never touch them again. I'm not saying they're not good off road but what's the point when they'll leave you stranded?

Close family friends bought a brand new Discovery V8, it broke down after 4 months on the side of the highway. Best thing is, the dealership wanted to charge to replace the engine. This is the same family that looked after a Merc ML for 10 years with no problems.

Apart from the Defender, which is a VERY basic car, the rest have atrocious reliability ratings from every country where they are sold, even Britain.

Your "experience" may be an exception but just note that LR vehicles were once the the only 4x4 purchased in places like Africa because of their abilities.

Now? Because of how unreliable they are, it's only Toyota Land Cruisers. Comfy, luxurious cars? No doubt. Reliable? You have to be kidding.
