Upcoming Platform Changes May Spell Doom For Acura's TSX

Acura boss Jeff Conrad says the TSX will remain in the lineup "for the foreseeable future." But when Acura moved into the entry-luxury segment with the ILX last year it jammed up its sedan lineup -- both in terms of vehicle sizes and pricing ladders.

The ILX and aging TSX are positioned close to each other, as are the TSX and mid-sized TL. The RLX has grown slightly to distance itself from comparisons to the TL, but not by much.

Product plans elsewhere within Honda Motor may force Acura's hand.

I cant understand why the ILX would replace the TSX...that'd be a disturbing move by Honda.

The TSX is the same vehicle as the European Accord so I cant imagine Honda replacing it globally.

With that in mind, it would make absolutely no sense for Acura to use the Civic Platform for a vehicle intended to replace the TSX.

As long as the European Accord has it's own platform, the TSX should share it.

to me the ilx should be focused on the 1 series, tsx-3 series, tl - 5 series, and , rlx the 7 series.
i really like acuras, but until the nsx comes, the brand will bland.
