Mr. Ecclestone says a lot of things. With recent successes in DTM, there is no real reason to come back into F1 at this time. Besides, with McLaren partnered up with Honda, the only team worth even considering is Lotus and I doubt Renault will let the only team with French lineage go to the German marque.

I know a few would ask why not Williams or Sauber? Like past relationships, you can not really ever go back. Force India would be an option, but I doubt Force India will be able to hold on to Di Resta or Sutil if they keep putting in consistent, good drives.

Why Bernie ?

So they can participate in what effectively is a tyre management exercise ?

They can currently do that by testing with Bridgestone or Pirelli directly, no need for you to play middle man.
