Toyota Attempts To Reach $1.1 Billion Settlement Over Unintended Acceleration Lawsuits
Toyota Motor Corp. and lawyers suing the company are set to ask a judge today to approve a $1.1 billion settlement of claims that recalls related to unintended acceleration hurt the value of U.S. customers' vehicles.

Dumbest bullshit ever. Toyota is paying both for morons "unintentionally accelerating" their cars, and now is paying on top of that for people whining about those morons making their cars less attractive to yet other morons. Pathetic.

From the article: "The proposed settlement includes $200 million in attorneys' fees and $27 million in expenses, according to court papers." Ugh. Well if that doesn't make the nature of this any clearer I'm not sure what could.

200 million in attorney fees (tho i'm sure they were expecting at least 100 million more). The rest divvied up for 23 million plintiffs. Hmmmm, so each of them gets 39 dollars? I don't think I have to say anything further.

Maybe my math is off but over 12 million vehicles, that $63 per car, assuming the lawyers did this out of the goodness of their hearts.

Good to know the lawyers got their money.
