2008 Audi R8 in Santa Monica

2008 Audi R8 in Santa Monica
Here it is, the R8 with practically no camouflage. Great job on the spy photo as someone from carster.com found it on their way home. Read article for the full spy story. Only some tape on the taillights and the bumper. Expect the wheels to change to a different design. What do you think?

V8 425 hp with Quattro all wheel drive. Possibility of a V10 5.2 liter with over 500 hp in a year or so.

MDalle

you can't judge a car that has fake plastic fenders and tape and say it is ugly

just wait and see

It is still in some camo, the black stuff will be gone, so will the red stripe, the aluminum panel "might" show up.

Will,

How do you explain sales of the of the 911, it costs around 100k, there are plenty of people who want to buy a 100k car and not a 200k car, I think there is a difference.

Will the one with the RS4 engine will be around 80k not 100 k

the v10 will be over 100 but with 500 - 600 hp it will sell well

Another answer to the question no one asked from our friends at VW.
Perhaps they will rebadge it as the "Audi Phaeton"

chewychewy - 8/15/2006 4:46:19 PM

Yes,

The R8 with the V8 will be between 80-100k, maybe 105k at the most. The V10 will add about 20-25 on top.

Geez........you guys are too much, a test mule and you guys are already dissing the R8......But I guess fear in some people is shown by their lashing out in a self preservation mode...........kudos Audi for making this a reality and a gem in your crown!!!

this doesn't rival the mb mclaren slr.
it rivals porsche 911, sl 55 amg etc.
just because it is mid engined doesn't mean it isn't usable.

If that is true that there will be a V8 version, I have to apologize to Chewy. From my conversations with the dealer, I was led to believe that there was only going to be a V10 version, with the possibility of a RS-type upgrade a year later. These variations put it into very different demographics, and pricing flucutations will be minimized when placed into this sub-Gallardo category. Disappointing, I was hoping for a Gallardo-killer as I wasn't impressed with that car and I love Audis. Oh well, I guess it's on to the LP640.

logical

No buddy, this is built on the LAMBORCHINI GALLARDO platform, something much finer than anything that BMW has.

lambo uses audi develped awd, uses audi developed engines, audi deveopled interiors, but clothes it in an italian body.
pathetic engineering.....seriously...do you know what you sound like?
what is pathetic about vw's engineering?

Lambo's but was saved buy VW and they are having a record year. The new baby lambo was built on... , Ready for this..? THE A8 platform/

Logical life changes, women are allowed to vote, the "blacks" are allowd to drink from your drinking fountian, and they even had a Catholic President.

There was a time that Japaneese cars were a joke that people laughed at and now Lexus is kicking our but in sales (I still like Audi) MB was the car of the 80's to early 90's, BMW had the late 90s to mid 2000s now Audi is here to stay

Yes, Audi took the Golf platform from VW, the engine from Laborghini, throw in a couple of parts off the shelf and voila! You have the new R8 supercar!

Obviusly this car is sportier than anything that BMW has right now, the real BMW fans understand that. BMW will probably have something to challange, but only in 2-4 years.

Nice post, great looking car and virtually identical to the original Le mans concept. The tests on the ring suggested great performance, and a killer exhaust note to match..
