Will It Be The Little Things Like Cool LED Ambient Lighting In The 2014 BMW That Finally Make You A Believer?

Will It Be The Little Things Like Cool LED Ambient Lighting In The 2014 BMW That Finally Make You A Believer?
At first glance the 2014 BMW X5 doesn't look THAT different or an more exciting than its predecessor but little details we're seeing hint that once we get to drive one, it will finally warm up to us.

Do these little things like cool ambient LED lighting matter to you and are you warming to the new X5?

Translated from German:

The light package with its various LED light sources enhances comfort for indoor and outdoor space.
Ambient lighting including an impressive "Welcome" staging and nine predefined lighting design meets the entire interior with a soothing relaxing blend of direct and indirect lighting, emphasizing the lounge-like atmosphere. The lighting includes three colored LEDs (white, orange and blue). The corresponding light sources are among others in the filing of the front center console, compartments in all doors and coverings as well as the exit door area. More LED lights are located in the make-up mirrors in the front and rear footwells and headlining in the backrests of the front seats and in the decorative strip.

Its features also include LED courtesy lighting in the door handles and exterior lights in the door mirror housings and the rear hatch.

Are subject to change in light of the scope of equipment package with ambient lighting designs.

No. This is a horrible redesign. Might as well get any model prior and save the money. Anyone who isn't big car person would have a hard time telling to two models apart.

"Do these little things like cool ambient LED lighting matter to you and are you warming to the new X5?"

What a stupid question. Considering the new 2014 BMW X5 sDrive35i (rear-wheel drive) costs $5,000 MORE than the previous model's xDrive (all-wheel drive) version, cool ambient lighting and a navigation system as standard DO NOT TURN ANY BUYERS INTO BELIEVERS!!

Congratulations BMW! You have turned an already-boring car into an ugly mess, raised the base price $5,000 for a rear-wheel drive NOT all-wheel drive model and tried to get buyers by offering a navigation system and cool ambient lighting as standard that is worth $2,500 at best.

You overpriced the 6-Series Gran Coupe and now you overpriced the high-volume BMW X5. Let's see how many of your potential customers jump to a Mercedes ML or the upcoming Audi Q7, which will be significantly lighter than the current model, come standard with all-wheel drive and will be cheaper than this hideous 2014 BMW X5.

really? an already boring car? i'm in the market for an SUV and was going to buy an X5 because it's such a solid all around vehicle. what would you recommend instead?

The current BMW X5 is already boring. The 2014 BMW X5 is just an ugly mess.

compared the super great looking Audi Q7? not. Or you meant the very sharp front end of the A7, yet don't look at the backside since it is a hot mess. I will wait to pass overall judgement on when I see the X5, yet from what I can tell from actual real life photos is that is is going to look much more impressive in person.

Germannut ... First off it is not overpriced. Actually the base price hasn't really gone up at all. A Premium X5 is $55,200 + $925 destination = $56,125. The New 2014 X5 is the same cost. In regards to the Q7, which the BMW X5 outsells almost 2 to 1, you are speaking about what exactly?

Now the Gran Coupe which is clearly a larger vehicle than the A7/S7 variant and it is a much more beautiful design the Audi variant. Yes it is more expensive as it should be. the BMW is 2" longer, 2" longer wheel base, more headroom etc ...

The 2014 BMW X5 is not a car that will grow on you in person, BMW4meever. In fact, I bet when people see it they will be even more turned-off by its attempt to be more aggressive that went completely wrong.

The next-generation Q7 will launch in summer of 2014. All reports indicate a vehicle that is at least 700 pounds lighter than the current model, significantly more aggressive in appearance, and, of course, offers an interior with superb luxury and technology features.

With a price that is sure to undercut the BMW X5, Audi's Q7 may steal significant market share from the ugly 2014 BMW X5.

No, not interested, nor a "believer," and this coming from a BMW owner with 2 in his stable. BMW lost this fan in its Bangle Era "Flame Surface" days, and has yet to win me back.

LED interior lights? Yep... That's what enthusiasts have been asking for. LED interior lights is more than enough to sway someone away from considering a Porsche. Forget about a Limited Slip Differential, just throw in some LED interior lights and call it the "Ultimate Driving Machine".

Who the hell needs or wants an LSD in a huge luxo SUV?? And Porsche could only DREAM to get a third of the sales of the X5, not to mention you need to order the S just to get anything close to fast or sporty. Now add in any of the over 100+ add-on options and a Cayenne easily gets to $72k in a few ticks.

BMW made a HUGE MISTAKE with its bread and butter, high-volume X5 SUV. The design has turned into a disaster, the price has jumped and with the way recent BMWs have performed in comparison tests, it won't drive anything like the "Ultimate Driving Machine."

We have already seen BMW's poor results in car magazine comparison tests in the last 2 to 3 years. Pretty soon, I believe the poor car magazine comparison test results, that are due mainly to unexciting and unusually poor driving dynamics, will start to cause sales to fall behind the competition's.
