BREAKING! The 2014 Mazda 3 Gets FULLY REVEALED!
It seems our friends in the UK got the jump on us this time around. Rightfully so, given they're five hours ahead of us on ET.

Anyhow, the 2014 Mazda 3 we've been waiting for has been completely unveiled for the first time. According to other reports Mazda is expected to make an unveil tonight via XBOX Live at 8:45 p.m. ET but I think the cat's well out of the bag, now.

No official US-specific details yet but read below and click through to see ALL the info streaming from the UK.

More details to follow tonight after the XBOX reveal.

With C-segment cars accounting for a quarter of the European passenger car market – a total of about three million vehicles per year – the Mazda 3 is regarded as a particularly significant vehicle for the Japanese manufacturer....

...The boot’s capacity is slightly improved too, at 350 litres with the rear seats in place compared to the old car’s 340 litres.

The Mazda 3 will initially be offered with a choice of three high-compression SkyActiv petrol variants and one diesel. The brand new 1.5-litre petrol produces 99bhp at 6000rpm and 111bhp at 4000rpm. Equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox, it can accelerate from 0-62mph in 10.8sec on its way to a top speed of 113mph...

...There is also a 2.0-litre petrol that will be available in two states of tune. The lower-powered version produces 118bhp at 6000rpm and 155lb ft at 4000rpm, reaching 62mph from a standstill in 8.9sec and topping out at 121mph.

The best-performing petrol variant in the range has the same amount of torque as the lower-powered version, but can call upon 162bhp at 6000rpm to cover the 0-62mph sprint in 8.2sec and hit a maximum speed of 130mph.

This thing looks nice, and knowing Mazda, its probably the nicest driver in its class. It's said that Mazda needs to do more volume in order to survive and I hope they succeed as they certainly deserve to.

I apologize for hijacking this posting as I know it's about the 3 but I wish Mazda would put the Skyactiv in the damn 5 minivan - gggrrrr That's it, thank you for your patience and back to normal programming.

As a 5 owner I concur...though I actually want a Mazdaspeed version. As it is, we should just hope it survives into a 3rd gen!

Looks great! I dare say Mazda may find itself to be the Alfa Romeo of the East with it's increasingly elegant, well-wrought designs.

I like Mazda.
You still see old 323s and 626s on the road despite the fact that they have never sold as many as Corollas and Camrys, or Civics and Accords.

I love the interior as well as the exterior. With companies like Ford and Hyundai putting so many attempted design elements in the interiors of their smaller offerings, it's so nice to see Mazda step in with simple, functional and tasteful design (specifically, the interior).

I do wonder why it looks like the nav display in the 3 looks larger and better-executed than in the 6.

More importantly, it makes you wonder what Mazda has to do to compete better. They consistently build the best/better-looking cars in their respective segments, with good/great driving dynamics, and solid interiors. I believe their quality results are pretty good as well. Yet, they continue to be so far behind Honda, Toyota, and Nissan in sales. And it's not like their image is "quirky", ala Subaru. Just makes you wonder….well, makes me wonder, anyway

From the picture, the lines look similar to an Infiniti. It’s attractive, though I am not crazy about the grille, which looks like a huge smile.

BTW -- does anyone know what Sky Active actually means? I know it's something with engine technology, but the television commercials explain nothing.
