In Europe cars go as much as 20,000 miles between oil changes. The 3,000 mile limit in America is to make money. Still I am a little skeptical. They can never put in enough windshield wiper fluid. Also, brake fluid is recomended to be replaced every couple of years because it absorbs water. I am not sure how correct that is, but it should be changed sometimes.

Is this even possible? The water in radiators that is used to cool engines evaporates over time as well as with engine heat. IT WILL need to be refilled sooner or later. I am skeptical of this. But if it is possible, then it's a welcome addition to the market. Teenage girls won't have to beg daddy to refill the oil or water!

There has not been enough discovery/new development of engine fluids to validate this. I can understand an engine that would not need the 'owner' to add any fluid, but an engine that would never need changes in the fluid is just not possible right now.

It could be that the advancements in engine technology have allowed them to go even further without the ever-so hassling regular scheduled maintenance, and this would be the next step. And engine that is for the most part sealed off and wouldn't need any maintenance for say 100K miles or 10 years. Then at that point the car is brought back to the shop, everything changed out and the engine goes for another round.

What about changing preloaded filters instead? Leave the oil in the car and the preloaded filter will replace the oil already in the old filter.

20000 miles is the service intervals for most vauxhalls.

Plano, okay I'll give you that. Still, a car company is not going to build an engine that keeps them out of the potential for extra money. They might build something close, but they will make sure it still needs some sort of minor maintenance.....you know, to pay the bar tab. :)

Sounds like an electric engine to me. Not very exciting.

Nothing is imposible but for an internal combustion engine? I have a hard time believing it.
