Chevrolet's Corvette Stingray Bests Porsche 911 In Fuel Economy

Forget zero-to-60 times for a moment and consider this: Chevrolet's new Corvette Stingray gets better gas mileage than a Porsche 911 Carrera S, or at least so says General Motors.

It's about the last car in which we suspect owners would care much about gas mileage, but for what it's worth, GM says the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray will get 29 miles per gallon on the highway and 17 mpg in the city.

Please, "Aznboyz", if it had Toyota badging and it was called "Supra" you'd be drooling over it's aggressive looks and in line, right behind Nick Hogan buy one and bedazzle it with aftermarket ground effects and spoilers.

Does anyone care, aside from the manufacturer? Seriously, does anyone actually go, "Damn, it's a toss-up between the 'Vette and the 911. I can't decided which one to get. They're so close. Hey! The 'Vette gets better mileage! Tie-breaker!!!"

Less trips to the Gas station is a good thing? No? Or do folks not care about that either?

@LexSucks: I'm not saying fuel economy is bad. In fact, I think Chev's accomplishment is great. I'm saying I don't believe consumers who look at a 911 also view a 'Vette as an option. They're different cars, appealing to different people, rather than being so similar that better fuel economy will be a tie breaker.

The people that care that much about trips to the gas station are buying something completely different. Still, nice to know that it would be a 14mpg improvement over my current car as opposed to just 12mpg or something, hah.

Fuel economy is no compensation for ugliness.
