Honda’s Future Plans for 2008-2009

Honda’s Future Plans for 2008-2009
Let’s familiarise ourselves with the world’s second best hybrid car producer’s furure plans– who knows it could have something brewing for us too.

Fit: A hybrid version of the 2007 Fit may be offered in 2008 or 2009.

New hybrid: A 2009 model year entry-level, four-door Fit hybrid to be introduced.

Insight: By the end of this year, you will no longer sight the two-passenger hybrid vehicle.

Civic: All 2009 model year Honda Civic and after may get a diesel engine.

Accord: All 2009 model year Accords will be renovated. The new ones will be larger, roomier and installed with a four-cylinder diesel engine. The Accord Hybrid, on the other hand, might meet the fate of Insight.

S2000: The 2007 model year will be the last of this two-passenger sports car.

Odyssey: All 2010 model year minivans will be redesigned.

CR-V: A redesigned, wider, more stylish 2007 CR-V goes on sale this fall. Of course, safer too, coming with side curtain airbags and antilock brakes and an optional navigation system with voice recognition.

New crossover: A new Civic-based crossover between the CR-V and Pilot powered by a four-cylinder engine will be added for the 2009 model year. A diesel also may also be offered.

Pilot: For the 2009 model year you can expect a redesigned Pilot; a 3.8-liter V-6 engine may be offered.

Element: Anticipate a redesigned Element for the 2009 model year.

Ridgeline: For the 2009 model year, a Ridgeline hybrid model is rumored. In addition, if introduced successfully in the Acura RL, the Ridgeline would also be getting the V-8 when it is redesigned in 2011.

Big hybrids on the way out at Honda and a trend towards diesels? Seems like at least Honda is seeing the eurocar light at the end of the tunnel.

Guys, it sure is interesting to see that Honda finally sees/realizes the value of a Turbo, a Diesel and an 8 cylinder engine.....all things I thought Honda would never give in to. Good for Honda. I do hope that they will introduce some interesting real wheel drive "fun" cars in their line up.

efoxS4 - Yes the RL is great of a sedan to be thrown to the wayside. It definitely needs a more powerful engine to distinguish it from the TL.

The accord will get its MMC as an '08 model not in '09 (The current Accords came in 02 as an 03 model). The new TL's will come out in '09. More than likely it will debut early in '07 just like the Camry did.
