The Line Starts Here! BMW 4 Series To Go On Sale First Week In October
We have now been able to confirm that the 2014 BMW 4 Series will officially go on sale in the United States during the first week of October - slightly later than many had speculated previously based on the start of production in July.

Demand for the 4 Series is expected to be high and the later than expected on sale date is partially due to the US not getting cars until the second wave of production. As with BMW on sale dates, dealers may take delivery of cars slightly earlier if everything works perfectly so it is possible that cars will start arriving at local dealers at the end of September.

the 4 is going to sell like MAD. and holding US deliveries to the second wave of production is only going to make it crazier. every car to arrive in 2013 will likely be pre-sold.

Demand/ interest in the the 4 series is very high. I saw a red one at a preview at BMW's NA headquarters in nj a few weeks ago, and it looks great in the metal! Very low and wide compared to the E92.

Nah - the couple never sells like "MAD".....with the meh redo and high prices it will sell in small numbers like it always has...

dear houston: it has--and will continue--to outsell everything in the class (E class, A5/S5, etc)

good. demand is already going to be out of control. no more interest needed.

Meh, it is a real letdown and doesn't provide a compelling upgrade. For me it is either the M4 or something totally different like 911 or F-type.

If they use that same cheap plastic around the console and door panels as in the 3 series and X3 model, and put those run flat tires (that cost more than a standard high performance tires; get less road mileage out of them and are louder on the roads), I'll definitely pass (and I've owned a few Bimmers in the PAST).

I can't wait as it has that fastback look to it. Having a lower and more broad stance than the E92 and the F30 it should handle a lot better. I have already built mine online with the M-sport package in RWD and will be ordering it next week.

No thanks, I won't be "in line". Those of us who had BMW's 30 or 40 years ago find the new cars predictable, dull and formulated for insecure status seekers.

I'm on my third BMW, and do not view it that way...odd. Also I wish I could write a car off before ever driving it lol. The F30 is a big improvement over the e90 in terms of ride and agility, while the early production model F30s steering was not the best they have updated it on newer models, and the new 5 series. Which have received positive feedback in reviews.

actually I completely disagree. I have had 9 of them ranging from fully restored 1986 735i up to a 2009 135 coupe. Actually, if anything they have gotten so much better with time. I am definitely looking forward to the 4-series coupe as it brings back the fastback look of yesterday.

Phantom4, glad you like your BMW. While the company still chants the same philosophy, it's mostly words. The BMW I was introduced to in the early '70's was 180 degrees off from anything else you could buy at the time. In those days, sales in this country were under 40,000 units a year--total of all offerings.
I understand the quest for the huge success they enjoy today. But, in attaining it, the product has steadily moved away from anything I would consider exclusive, unique and desirable-- at least not in the same original context.
I haven't driven the latest '3', but I found the '5' awful. Reviews of the '3' mention similar short-comings. The fact that BMW is tweaking the cars already substantiates the issues. The upgrades are not that huge.

I'm afraid your living in the past if you are compare any car company today to what it was over 30 years ago. All car makers lineup have changes drastically... Look at Porsche they make SUVs!!!! You have to compare them to the current auto landscape. BMW still stands out as a maker or well balanced sedans with great motors. Also the auto industry is soo competitive you can't just build a car and not touch it for 7 years and still expect it to be the best at the end if its life cycle, you have to implement updates or fix criticisms as fast as possible to remain on top, and frankly every car makes electric steering sucks besides Porsche, so as soon as BMW has an updated system I'm all for the bringing it to market sooner than later.

According to the BMW USA website, the weight for a 435i is 4,500 lbs! That is 900 lbs more than a 335i coupe.

What a tub of lard.

Lol! I think you need to check that again your about 1000lbs off. The new 4 series is about 100 lbs lighter than the car it replaces depending on spec, which puts it at around 3550 lb, or about 400 lbs less than the S5.

lol. you're waaaay off. the 6-series coupe weighs 4001 lbs. so how exactly is a 335i going to weigh 4500 lbs? you're off by at least 1000 lbs.

don't be lazy. Just look at the BMW USA website - The 435i Coupe, Features & Specs:

Gross vehicle weight – Automatic transmission 4505 lb
Gross vehicle weight – Manual transmission 4475 lb

I can't view it on my phone, but if the site says that for the 4 series it's obviously a typo which is not unheard of ....How would the coupe weight 1000 more than the 3 series sedan? Lol....use a little common sense. And check the press release it states the car is up to 100 lbs less than the old coupe.

That is a misprint as the that is more than the 6-series. It is 100 lbs less.

dear stupid: that is not the weight of the car unladen. the 6-series weights 4001 lbs.

If it is a typo, not sure why it would show up in the 428i specs too:

Gross vehicle weight – Automatic transmission 4385 lbs
Gross vehicle weight – Manual transmission 4340 lbs

still stupid. it's a mistake. please do explain how a 6-cylinder 3-series can weigh 500 lbs. more than a V8 6-series that's a foot or more longer.

Why is it that every comment that isn't praising this new coupe is deboosted. To hear you BMW fan boys it would seem like only Audi fans are the ones who are over the top and obnoxious. Pretty clear that when you don't like BMW their fans are just as bad. For instance, before BMW took the US crown from lexus all you would hear is "oh es camry this rx moves half of their volume. Now just look at BMW, number one in the USA their 3 series which moves most of the USA sales volume. No problem discussing sales now BMW fans. Talk about a double standard.

Exactly my point my comments get deboosted for not liking BMW but no one can tell me what part of my comment is incorrect. BMWSPIES i tell ya. Only place I know who will try and place a BMW fan boys opinion over professional auto journalist.
