STUD or DUD, NIGHT Edition: Is Mercedes-Benz's All-New S' Ambient Lighting Doing The Trick?
Set to hit showrooms in September, the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is kind of a big deal. And though I think the exterior is a massively good looking vehicle, the interior left me a bit disappointed.

It's just so...OLD looking.

Once I realized it's going to theoretically also replace the Maybach I cut it a bit of slack but I still think it needs a bit of vitality.

This week Mercedes-Benz is hosting the launch of the 2014 S in Canada but probably left us out for a simple reason: our coverage was too good. We revealed the car way before anyone else BUT the three-pointed star made us remove the photos. C'est la vie.

From the launch the company's Instagram account posted a really interesting photo of the interior lit up at night with the Toronto space needle in the background. I am not sure about you all but there's something about that swath of red lighting that is a bit too "Time Square" for my taste but it definitely jazzes up the stodgy interior design.

What say you? Are YOU digging the S-Classes interior with this modern ambient lighting?

Given that the last-gen S had several color options, we're sure the new one will have double to appeal to those who appreciate setting the mood.

Looks hideous in photo but I suspect with other colors and once in the car at night it might look fantastic...particularly on the way home after a few martinis and the right person riding shotgun.

I think it's cool and I'm sure you can change the color to a nice white or ice blue color. The red is a bit much but it does give off lots of light.

Ambient lighting because there is oh so much demand from the crusty rich to feel like rap stars. The tackiness of this truly has me baffled.

Call me biased if you will, but the Ambient Lighting of the BMW 7 series is MUCH more discreet and tasteful than this.

Yes... Interior lights should only be white. What's wrong with you morons? The red might be a bit much... But anything other than white is fine.

This is just a bad picture of what I am sure is otherwise a cool feature.
