DRIVEN + VIDEO: Nissan's "Godzilla" GT-R Takes On Audi's RS6

DRIVEN + VIDEO: Nissan's
Last year the Nissan GT-R squared off with the likes of the BMW M5. It was an interesting showdown. Actually, no it wasn't. The BMW got eaten alive, predictably. The reality is that the Nissan's jaw-dropping technology paired with an all-wheel drivetrain really is tough to compete with.

Granted, BMW couldn't feel too bad and all — The GT-R is essentially in a class of its own with its supercar performance figures and I don't believe anyone would cross shop them.

BUT, what if the Germans came back with another super saloon? Well, Audi has with the creation of the RS6 Avant. Though I'd still say they aren't competitors, I will say that since the RS6 is equipped with all-wheel drive it should make things a bit more "appropriate."

Let's see how things shake out...

They both produce more than 500bhp, and they both offer supercar-rivalling pace. But can the big, practical Audi RS6 really outpace the breathtaking Nissan GT-R. Steve Sutcliffe hosts the battle.

EVO mag did a similar video test. The Evo driver drove the RS6 faster to 60 mph and even faster to 100 mph than Autocar's inept driver (or perhaps the Autocar driver did not drive the RS6 to its potential).

The RS6 Avant wagon is 600 lbs heavier than the GT-R coupe. The top-of-the-line, fastest Nissan GT-R with Track Pack (base price 106,300 Euros) is similarly priced as the Audi RS6 (base price 107,900 Euros).

One fact of auto testing is that the vast majority of testers are not equally capable driving different cars: some testers simply drive certain cars slightly faster than they do other cars. Even if you have the top 10 F1 drivers lap two different car, each driver's time will be slightly different for each car.

What Autocar omitted to mention is that while the GT-R was faster than the RS6 on the Autocar dry track... the RS6 was faster than the GT-R on the wet track.

What Autocar also omitted to mention were the specs and option on each car.
