SPIED! 2014 Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid Caught In Real Life For The First Time. Tesla Challenger?
Caught by a Porsche enthusiast in Redwood City, California is the first real life shot of the upcoming 2014 Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid.

GreenCarReports reported that this enthusiast usually drives either a Porsche 996 or a Chevy Volt.

Scheduled to arrive at USA dealers in November, the engineers driving it said it would be able to travel 20 miles on a charge and out accelerate a 996.

The German companies are desperate to get something in dealers that can stop the positive momentum being generated by Tesla.

But that won't be an easy task as the Spies believe their chances are slim becuase customers want their car to stand out as an electric and in the high end the Tesla has that Prius-like branding image.

We think the Porsche engineers and the others are also underestimating the attraction to buyers of the massive center stack display of the Tesla.

We believe the lure of THAT is more important to the customer than the fact that the car is 'Green'.

So our advice to the challengers is until you out do THAT interior with bigger/more screens you got NO chance of making a dent against Elon.

Do you agree with our take and would you even consider this Panamera is you were thinking Tesla?

Elon Musk, the man behind Tesla, is a less-than-honest individual. When Top Gear reviewed the Tesla roadster unfavorably, Musk went on a rampage alleging that Top Gear had written their review before the car even arrived for testing. Musk reused that same stock allegation when another automotive journalist gave a similarly unfavorable review.

The reason this is a big deal for me, is that it's important for me to own a car that's reasonably trouble-free and reliable, and readily serviceable. Without a network of Tesla service centers, or a track record of real-world reliability or durability, and while being backed by a less-that-honest businessman, I would choose not to make a Tesla a part of my life. Let the early adopters be on the bleeding edge.

DeLorean, anyone?
