Will Dash Cams Be The Next Big Thing In The USA Like In Russia Or Will They Flop?
With so many crazy things going on in our world common sense tell us an in car dash cam makes a lot of sense.

Take for example the huge meteorite landing in Russia caught on video with dash cams.

People in other parts of the world are buying them in droves and celebrities are putting them into all their cars for protection.

But I've yet to see anyone with one in their car here is Southern California.

Is it because there isn't enough of a marketing push by electronic companies or is it a fad American drivers will never warm up to?

Have you seen them in personal cars and do you plan on adding one to yours?

Spies, discuss.

I have been using the dash cam for a while. It is really needed now especially with all these red light cameras setup and falsely sending tickets out.

Been thinking about it. As an alternative, I believe there is a bluetooth style earpiece/cam called Looxcie that is constantly looking where you look and records to your smartphone. I think it does this as a continue loop overwriting the video a certain number of seconds back- keeping the video size small. By pressing a button it permanently saves a clip. There are so many times where you would love to have a video records of other drivers

Once police officers are recorded doing messed up things. You will see dash cams get banned. They will ban them under the guise of safety.

They are dirt cheap now, especially the fake non-HD ones. No good reason to not have one.

The more important question is how long before the manufacturers built them in for video recording in addition to lane-change warning, etc. and how long before the gov't mandates them as a part of the data recorder.

Dash cams aren't the big thing, police wearing google glass and axiom cameras are. The police will be streaming their point of view activities live back to headquarters in real time given another 5 years. That's more of a concern to me than whether WE have a dashcam.
