2014 Lexus IS F To Be Based On Previous Model Not Next Generation Platform
Lexus’ sharp new 2014 IS sedan has just gone on sale and we so far have been quite impressed with its ride and handling. Unfortunately, a high-performance IS F version of the redesigned sedan is yet to be revealed so Lexus will continue selling its previous bodystyle IS F into the new model year.

That’s right, the previous bodystyle IS F will be offered for the 2014 model year alongside the new IS, but you’ll have to pay a little more for the car. Pricing for the 2014 IS F starts from $64,260, including $910 for destination, an increase of $1,600 on the 2013 model.

First thought was they cheaped out for 2014... second thought is a high performance V6 isn't ready for the 2014 platform.

Knowing how slow their gestation process is I think the later over the former.

They should have offered it at a discount over the previous models rather than a premium, honestly.

No surprise here, this is not the 1st automaker to do...

Ugh. Lexus is not BASING it off the last generation. It IS the last generation. Just like the 3 series sedan is out, but the coupe and M3 have soldiered on for another year. They will not replace every version all at once. This staggered rollout is the norm for cars, not a bizarre exception. Why is this so hard to wrap your head around that you had to post another rehash of yesterday's story. Boy you guys must be having trouble finding good stories to rip off from other people.

Based on the looks of the all-new IS, the old one (F) will probably outsell the new one.
