DEAD IN THE WATER? Infiniti Delays Supercar Until At Least 2017
Will it replace the mighty GT-R? Probably not, but the upcoming Infiniti halo supercar will certainly be quite something.

Infiniti has made clear its plans to build a halo supercar, but yet the question remained as to when it’ll be ready for launch. Last May we were informed that Infiniti was planning to launch its hybrid supercar by 2016, but now it seems that date has been pushed back by a couple of years. What’s the reason for the delay?

Infiniti is still deciding whether it’ll have a front or mid-engined layout. Also still up for debate is its powertrain, but the decision here will likely proceed with a V6 engine mated to a hybrid system.

Things I learned today.

At Autospies the words dead and delayed have the same meaning.

Things I learned today..

The Japanese honestly think they can build a supercar in 3 years but in reality when faced with the challenge it is more like 5 to 7.

A supercar is a different beast all together

Well, something has to actually be promised to be delayed and since Infiniti never really set a date for this car's arrival it can't really be delayed, can it? This is the first time anyone has mentioned them actually producing such a car. So the car is neither dead nor delayed.

Something I learned today: I don't like Infiniti's "face," regardless if it's on a sedan, SUV, or supercar :-(

I wonder if they'll even be around then. They seem so unfocused and all over the place. Never ever been a fan so succeed or fail I dont care, but they seem to have lost all the momentum they gained in the mid 2000s. Now theyre in the same boat as lincoln and acura, nothing in their lineup to get excited about and seem to be suffering from an identity crisis.

Infiniti will survive just like Acura. On the other hand, Ford will soon loose its patience and pull the plug for Lincoln. And let's be honest there won't be any thing to miss, at least from the current lineup.

Dating back 4-5 years, if I had a penny for every article I read where Infiniti claims they are going to build a super car . . .
