I recall that just about every article I read about the Volt said it was too expensive for what it was. Amongst the rare exceptions was GM's propaganda, which asserted the price was right and that it would prove to be a success. At least now we know who was right.

The other side to that is that, as any new technology rolls out, and becomes more common, the price drops. “GM propaganda?” That’s a bit grandiose for setting the price for an automobile, just like every other company does.

@SuperTurtlePlus re "...GM propaganda..." -- When GM announced the Volt, they made it out to be a revolutionary car that will have mass-market appeal. Meanwhile, critics didn't see things that way. Take your choice on who you believe was right.

Viewing GM's price drop on the volt as "normal business" can be compared to Microsoft dropping the price on their Surface tablets, which aren't selling very well, either.
