Volkswagen Teases Golf R Will Come With 300 Something Or Another For Frankfurt

The very first official teaser photo of the all-new Volkswagen Golf R is out in the open with the German brand also providing two clues about the car, the first being "R kommt" which is German for "R Comes", evidently pointing to a Frankfurt Motor Show debut in September, and the second a "300…" number tag.

Another site has the details released. With 296hp and a haldex AWD system like the S3 and presumably a lower price, I can't help but think this will make the S3 a lot less appealing to all but the biggest audi fanboys, who would be willing to pay extra for essentially the same performance? I'm not sure I few extra options and a badge would be worth the premium for me.

It's pretty silly to "tease" a spec car that, without any studio lighting, looks EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE BASE MODEL.

Too bad you will:
over price the car by about $5k - $7k
spend more money in marketing than improving your dealer network
never have more than two or three at a given dealership
