Michigan Fast Food Workers Demanding UAW Like Wages And Right To Unionize

Fast-food workers in Michigan are taking part in walkouts as part of a push to get chains such as McDonald’s, Taco Bell and Wendy’s to pay workers higher wages.

In Detroit, a McDonald’s on Detroit’s northwest side was shut down Thursday morning as workers and others protested outside. A march and rally also are planned.

Workers want $15 an hour, better working conditions and the right to unionize. The restaurant industry says higher wages would hurt job creation.

These people are just being "USEFUL IDIOTS." And, they are not smart enough to figure it out.

What this is REALLY all about is the impact it will have on OTHER UNIONS which have their pay rates LINKED to the Minimum Wage.

You can bet your ass that, behind the scenes, these other unions are the ones who are stoking up these Useful Idiots.

CARS ARE FUN

Well paid workers tend to spend money!

Pay is commensurate to skill level.

Both UAW and fast food workers choose where they work.

If they don't like then pay find a better job. If they aren't qualified to work at a better job, then those are the cards you were dealt. Find another (legal) way to make more money. (two jobs, or go back to school and learn a new skill)

Is fast food even profitable enough to support this? I think the margins are pretty low.

I believe they do have low margins and make it up with volume.

$15/hour wage might mean the 99 cent menu will become a $1.99 menu. That runs off those who rely on the 99 cent menu. Then volume drops followed by profits, and layoffs occur. So where you were employing 40 at $10 and hour you not can only afford 25 at $15.

Lost jobs means higher unemployment and higher taxes due more people on the welfare system. Since they don't have health care via the job, the tax payer picks up the tab under Obama care as well.

higher taxes means less money to spend and retail everywhere starts to suffer and it goes on and on.

This is a nation wide strike . Why are you picking on Michigan . Just because the original article mentioned Detroit as just one of the cities in America that is staging a strike . It is always more convenient for journalists to kick someone when they are down to juice up the story
