CAR WARS! VIDEO: 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Vs. 2013 SRT Viper
In the American sports car wars, it doesn't get much more heated than when the Chevrolet Corvette and Chrysler's SRT Viper get together and tangle. We saw this earlier in the year when a buff book took a Corvette ZR1 and put it head-to-head with the Viper.

The 'Vette was victorious, obviously not good news for the all-new Viper.

Well, it turns out the news only gets worse. That's because the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray was put up against the much more expensive SRT Viper and aside from off-the-line drag race performance, the Corvette really put up some staggering performance figures.

Though the test car appears to be sporting the Z51 package, this only means if a Z07 is in the pipeline it can only get MUCH worse for SRT. And imagine if Chevrolet does another ZR1? Ouch.

Check out the clip below. Yes, there's plenty of "roll-out" for everyone...

Edmunds.com takes both the Corvette Stingray and SRT Viper to the track for performance tests - 0-60 launches, quarter mile times, braking distances, slalom runs & skip pad ratings.

Almost can't tell them apart from the front lol. Headlights look the same, both have a center hood scoop, both have protruding bubble over the driver and passenger side of the roof, both have similar lower grill openings, but the Viper adds vents at either corner. Can't believe how much these two look alike from the front.

Corvette is definitely the winner, can't imagine the performance the next Z07, and a ZR1 would just be ridiculous.

This was from an Edmunds article regarding the 2013 Premium GT-R...

Link: http://www.edmunds.com/nissan/gt-r/2013/road-test.html

"Still, the 2013 GT-R stopped 2 feet shorter from 60 mph (106 feet) and a foot shorter from 30 mph (26 feet). Stops were incredibly stable and the pedal has a firm feel, but distances were quite erratic, varying by as much as 7 feet. "

"...The changes, although seemingly conflicted for making the GT-R more drivable, had little influence on handling from a pure numbers standpoint. Its slalom time of 73.7 mph was actually a smidge off the GT-R Black Edition we tested last year, although it's still in the very upper echelon of sports cars. Same story on the skid pad, where it turned 0.99g with ESC off (slightly worse than last year), while its 1.01g with ESC on is better. "

note the following where the Corvette can best the GT-R...

GT-R 60-0: 106
Corvette 60-0: 99

GT-R skidpad: 1.01g
Corvette skidpad: 1.07g

...note the following where the Corvette comes very damn close...

GT-R slalom: 73.7
Corvette slalom: 73.5

... What say you Autospies...is the writing on the wall?

Awesome. The first time that I ever heard the word ‘delicacy’ associated with a Corvette. It’s good thing because it implies a level of sophistication that was heretofore missing.
