FRANKFURT MOTOR SHOW: FIRST REAL-LIFE Pictures Of The Lexus LF-NX Concept - Cutting Edge Design Or Oragami Gone Wild?

FRANKFURT MOTOR SHOW: FIRST REAL-LIFE Pictures Of The Lexus LF-NX Concept - Cutting Edge Design Or Oragami Gone Wild?
When new LF-NX was announced the first images made the new Lexus concept resemble more like origami gone wild than a serious production concept.

However these first real life shots in from the Frankfurt Motor Show are quickly proving otherwise.  Agent001 is reporting that the design in real life not only works, but it is actually pretty darn cool.  Just goes to show you that first impressions can easily be wrong.  Our agent at large is reporting that this Evoque sized half pint SUV is actually a notch above the all new and slightly larger Infiniti Concept as well.  More proof in the pudding that Lexus is serious about a smaller SUV in the lineup.

So you be the judge and let us know what you think.

Just hideous. Whoever at Toyota/Lexus who is heading the design studios needs to get off the crack pipe and hallucinogens.

It's crazy, yes.

People will definitely see you coming & going.

The FX was crazy when it 1st debuted. I had an FX45. Loved driving it everyday.

that's one scary vehicle. front end looks like some sort of sci-fi monster with its mouth wide open. and what's with the ludicrously skinny little headlights? and the nike swooshes that make the ones on the new IS looks positively modest? yikes.

LMAO...... It's funny how everyone is calling this design ugly but praise how the Lamborghini Egoista beautiful etc... LOL.... If it had a German or Italian logo on it everyone will say how great or marvelous the design is but since it has a Lexus logo on it, everyone calling ugly, LOL. It might not be the best design but far from being ugly.

Wholeheartedly agree! This is more of a statement than a design language, it's Lexus's way of expressing what they CAN do, not WILL do.

I never saw a single person say they thought the Lambo Egoista was beautiful. From what I saw it was pretty universally hated. So these two go together fine.

It's funny, I kept thinking Lambo when I saw this too. Creased and chiseled to within an inch of it life. Only Lambo couldn't leave it as a concept. hence the ostentatious Aventador. This one is just, after all, a concept. It shows the most outrageous example of how a car can be folded, creased and bent into amazing shapes. And isn't that what concepts are for?

Hmmm... I like the Lambo Egoista because a one-seater exotic can look like this and get away with it. I am not sure a small SUV can look like this Lexus and get away with it quite yet. It looks "futuristic" but in a very anime sci-fi kind of way. I don't hate it, but I am not sure I'd buy it. At least not right now. Maybe in 10 years something like this will be the fashion trend and it'll fit right in, but right now it's a bit "out there." And when they scale things back to be far more conservative for production, I wonder what will remain... by the way I am starting to see the new IS on the roads and it's really not appealing to me. I wonder how this thing looks in the flesh.

I really like! Its different in a goood way. People always complain that lexus is too conservative and when they try something different people bitch and complain. They are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

Looks good!

I think it looks good from the front snd side, the back needs a little cleaning up..
Putting a number plate on the front softens it up a touch, i like it..

As a design exercise its spot on. Great balance of future direction with well executed proportions and details. Bravo.

Hey Autopinion, you're kidding right? Daring yes, commercially viable, no, attractive no, frightening to children and senior citizens, definitely.
