Nissan 370Z Successor To Debut Next Month And Will Be Less Brutish
Nissan will reveal a new small sports car at the Tokyo motor show in November.

The new car is set to preview a replacement to the Nissan 370Z, Nissan development chief Andy Palmer revealed to Autocar at the Frankfurt motor show.

The Tokyo show car is likely to be a concept, and is set to completely redefine the Z car concept away from its current brutish application. Palmer confirmed the new model would be “smaller and lighter”, but no less powerful than the current model with power set to come from a downsized turbocharged engine.

Less brutish? Isn't it sort of sissy carish now?

Most importantly it'll feature turbo engine, which will also point out new direction for Infiniti.

I read this to mean it will be lighter and less of a handful than the current Z. If they make it like the last Mazda RX7... light, tossable, easy to push to its limits, then I'm all for it.

At first I thought this headline said "less British", which would make sense since every time I drive my Nissan around town someone asks me if it's an Aston Martin.

Hopefully the next model will look more Japanese.

I'll miss the buttery smooth torque of the V6, but as long as they throw in two turbos to make the power delivery as smooth and linear as possible, I'm on board.

P.s.
Keep the manual but make it a seven speed, make it sound great and put a decent stereo in the damn thing. NO crappy $300 sub add-ons.

I happen to be a fan of "brutish" sports cars. The last thing I want is a delicate looking/driving car. The 370z, while a bit behind the curve in some ways (though ahead in others), is one of the few remaining visceral, uncompromising driving experiences to be had and an incredible performance value. I just hope Nissan doesn't screw this up.

I'm interested to see the size of the car. I don't think there will be any real significant size difference considering it's a two seater with a tiny trunk. Plus personally I think it's silly to insult your current product to try an promote the next because you alienate yourself from those who liked the car and spent money on it for the prospect of new buyers. Someone might want to tell Mr. Palmer the majority of those kids in the UK can't afford a 30k+ sports car.
