Chevrolet Mum On Nürburgring Lap Times For Corvette - Was It Faster Than The Porsche 918?

A spanking new Corvette captured jumping high in the air on the Nürburgring racetrack will always get our attention. Now, whether there is any substance to General Motors' release that includes said picture is a completely story altogether…

What GM is trying to tell us here, is that it's trying out the Corvette on the Nordschleife to make some fine-tuning to the European-specification model a few months prior to going on sale in the Old Continent. There's no doubt in anyone's mind that the General must have recorded some fast laps, but for now, at least, it's not sharing them.

Companies rarely pass up bragging rights. Recall Microsoft choosing not to brag about their Surface™ (Windows 8 powered tablets) sales numbers, then taking a $900 million write-down on unsold inventory. This might be similar, in that the 'Vette didn't deliver impressive enough numbers.

I've got to agree, it just seems like they're getting desperate to generate clicks. I mean the new Vette is unbelievable for the cash but to even consider it in the same paragraph as the 918 is absurd.

Vette's probably the fastest car for less than 100k it's priced like a Cayman/Boxster but you guys got my click already. I don't think it could take the 918 but Prosche never holds a record for long I would look to the NSX or one of the other upcoming super hybrids if anything.
