You Think Obamacare Is Fun? What Are You Going To Do If You Are Forced To Buy An EV?
Despite the government’s thumb on the scale with its rebates of $2,500 to $7,000 to buyers of plug-in electric and hybrid vehicles, sales of  those vehicles hasn’t exactly gone through the roof. In fact, Honda sold only 83 of its all-electric Fit this year, and sales of GM’s Volt are still struggling despite a $5,000 cut in its base price. Meanwhile, the U.S. is on track to spend $7.5 billion on the rebates by 2019 with no effect on gas use or emissions, according to a report from the Congressional Budget Office .

I’m sure taxpayers are simply delighted to have money taken from their paychecks and given to those who buy these government blessed cars.

I think we are also forced to buy coverage by fire department, police, teachers...., right? The world's most advanced societies also provide coverage for health. About time we did to.

They also force you to buy car insurance which is illegal. Government can't force you to buy a private service i.e. car insurance and health insurance. Forcing people to buy healthcare is a Marxist ideology. Making somebody pay into a service has NOTHING to do with advancement. Libya and Cuba both do/did "public health" and they are not advanced.

lots of good things about healthcare reform. for example: 1. you can no longer be denied coverage for pre-existing conditions 2. preventitive care will be paid for 3. since they will have insurance, people won't go to the emergency room for basic services and run up thousands in charges that they can afford to pay 4. insurance rates will come DOWN for many people (mine already did by a massive amount).

and let's not forget that we ALREADY HAVE government healthcare: it's called medicare and medicaid. and it's far cheaper than private insurance.

lastly, it's really ROMNEYCARE. everyone seems to forget that it's modeled on mitt's VERY successful healthcare reforms in massachusetts.

and it's you are against obamacare: PROVIDE AND ALTERNATIVE SOLUTION TO OUR BUSTED SYSTEM. and it is busted: we spend more per capita on healthcare than ANY country in the world and we have the highest percentage of uninsured people in the first world and some of the worst health outcomes.

Worry not, 009! You will always be able to take the electric bus, or the electric train, or the electric plane instead ;)

I avoid public transport as much a possible. Besides the buses are LPG and the trains are over crowded.

Why are you not complaining about the requirement to purchase Auto insurance, or fire insurance if you have a mortgage?

I think that if the government has to pay you to be "green" then you're not really "green" at all. I want to take away these tax cuts and rebates so we can see just how green these tree huggers really are and they'll show their true colors. Government can't do favors within the market.

People applaud them giving tax breaks to hybrids and plug-ins and then get mad when they bail somebody out even though it's pretty much the same thing.

I'll be forced to sell my Bugatti Veyron to pay for the Affordable Care Act pushed through by the deviant progressive liberals to have control and power over each American.

Mortgage/car insurance arguments are invalid since you must first BUY those things, being an American wasn't a choice you made. If instead you could choose to buy your American citizenship then it would be legal for the govt to force you to buy health insurance.

Also note the only car insurance you have to have is liability, which protects other peoples' property, not yours. If you don't own your car or your house, you also have to buy more insurance because you don't own it... i.e. it protects other peoples' property again (the bank).
