I'm waiting to hear people complain about Fiat raiding/raping Chrysler just like Daimler did.

I thought it was the other way around with Chrysler taking and improving their products (at least initially) based on Daimler technology. I believe in the end, Chrysler was the albatross around Daimler's neck (and later Cerebrus'). Daimler took a great loss when it ultimately offloaded Chrysler.

Looks like Fiat is unwilling to buyout the UAW trust, which it believes is overpriced, in order to take over a greater share of Chrysler. Will Chrysler come near the brink again, not because of its alliance with Fiat, but because of UAW terms? Based on the resurgence of Chrysler since its alliance with Fiat, it stands to lose quite a bit if Fiat reconsiders its plans or worse undoes its alliance because of union demands. I'm not anti-union, but in my opinion, the UAW should be bending over backwards to keep Fiat happy.

Marchione is bluffing. He is simply playing "Chicken" with VEBA. Fiat needs Chrysler. It needs the plants the dealerships etc. to promote the new shared platforms between Fiat and Chrysler.I don't beleive the IPO will ever come to be.

FIAT is better off WITH Chrysler....But it would make out "Like A BANDIT" if it is forced by VEBA to give up and walk away.

(1)FIAT could dump the stock that it owns....(58.5%...Aprox. $2.5 Billion

(2)FIAT is entitled to their ownership share of Chrysler's "Cash on Hand" (58.5% of $12.5 Billion or $7.3 Billion) Which they could take as Cash or Cash/Plants in Mexico.

(3) Most of Chrysler's Management would Exit with FIAT....

So Chrysler would be left with Limited Product in Pipeline,Little Cash on Hand and No Management.....It could stumble along MAYBE 18-24 months before It would be Liquidated or taken over 100% by our Government, think of it as an American Version of British Leyland....Which is EXACTLY what the UAW's Masters REALLY want
