The Ultimate Prius Killer? Volkswagen Working On 10,750 RPM 187HP XL1!
A Ducati-engined version of the Volkswagen XL1 has been revealed. VW board chairman Ferdinand Piëch revealed that the eco car could be fitted with the high-performance engine from the Ducati Panigale superbike, creating a high-performance track or race car.

It has been reported that the XL Sport will be powered by a 1200cc engine which develops 187bhp at 10,750rpm and 91lb ft of torque at 9000rpm. It will be mated to a twin-clutch transmission.

You've not even read the original article. It mentions nothing about comparing to a Prius.
This car with this type of engine is for racing..

As for road car of this, let's see if VW can make this comparible practical and cost within reason...

Well the regular XL1 is rumored to be priced at $145,000, I don't think the Prius has anything to worry about.
