VIDEO: The 2014 Jeep Cherokee OFF-ROAD — You Won't See A RAV4, CR-V, Escape Doing THIS!
Although we've been very straightforward with you about how impressed we are with the all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee, I think there's one area that has to be driven home. Look at how this vehicle tackles off-road adventures.
There's no question it is best in class off-road, and there's NO way you'll ever see any of its competition pulling off these maneuvers.
That said, it's one thing to talk about it but it's FAR better to see it.
Take a look at the clip below.
The 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk is the most off-road worth of the new 2014 Cherokee model lineup. With more aggressive tires, higher ground clearance and even a trail rated designation the 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk is ready to take the wild and unpaved outdoors according to Jeep. In another fun and informative TFLcar review we drive and test the 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk in the Hills above Malibu, California. So how does the 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk perform when the going gets rough and rugged?

well, at least it can really get off road vs the rest of the competition... the front end styling is questionable but may grow on me...

I Say this after spending 4 day off roading in the back country of Canyonlands National Park, The Cherokee looks pretty good. I wish there had been more technical challanges, but after watching these two yahoo's driving I see why Jeep choose this course. Thank you Jeep for making a SUV instead of some grocery getting crossover piece of crap.

There is definitely a niche for a more rugged CUV, but 90% of buyers rarely climb anything bigger than a curb at the mall.

Couldn't they have made it a little less ugly?

@ CarCrazedinCali - Why should ANY car have to "grow on you". There are just too many super vehicles out there with beautiful lines and been sculpted designed, without having to look as UGLY as this POS. In a year they will be having REBATES galore to get this JUNK off their lot. This has to be put into the category of the Pontiac Aztec, AMC Pacer, Nissan Juke and etc. Talk about depreciation and resale value; won't be good.

Yeah there is a big difference between pretend AWD and real AWD.
Pretend AWD being those that are 2WD until slip occurs, then the other axle is engaged but only until the default axle stops spinning.
Real AWD being those that can send power to both axles even if neither is slipping.

This thing may actually have potential. Jeep just needs to give it an early extensive facelift.

I recently picked up a new Subie Forester XT and while it's not quite as hardcore off-road as the high-end Cherokee, it is just as performant on most surfaces (real AWD of course) while not looking horrible like the Jeep. Still it would be interesting to see a comparison of the two (and maybe the other likely real-life competitors like the Ford Escape with EcoBoost (turbo) and AWD).

I believe the Escape has pretend AWD.

It does have "pretend AWD" and in the comparison that would presumably betray itself one way or another. And if not, then fair enough; that would simply mean that it's not that big a deal. Still I think it would make for an interesting comparison since I think people do cross-shop these vehicles.
