Callaway Green Lights AeroWagon Concept - Are They Building The Corvette Chevrolet Was Afraid To?
Last March Corvette specialist Callaway released a rendering of what it called the AeroWagon Concept, which was basically a shooting brake version of the all-new Chevy Corvette Stingray. Some liked it, others loathed it, but it was certainly an interesting idea nonetheless.

At the time, Callaway hadn’t decided whether or not to proceed with the project, but sources are now claiming that approval for it has recently been given. This new rear hatch design is actually more intricate than you may think at first.

Afraid to? Or doesn't need to? This thing is more polarizing by a million times than the "normal" Stingray, and it's not like Chevy will have trouble selling the latter. There won't be that many orders for this thing; it's an $23k you would pay to have 100 people like your car LESS for every 5 people that like it more (that's a swag :-P).

AutoSpies headlines troll me so hard :(

Exactly. GM saw no money in this. It would have to hire people to build it, get the parts, set up a production line, etc, all for something that will not sell in volumes that make it profitable.

I think it’s gorgeous. You could see where the design could have gone off the rails, but it somehow works and looks like it was originally built that way, as opposed to a tacky add-on.
