BMW Sales Up 8.3% In September - Mini Best September Ever With 8.3% Increase
The BMW Group in the U.S. (BMW and MINI combined) reported September sales of 28,874 vehicles, an increase of 8.3 percent from the 26,660 vehicles sold in the same month a year ago. Year-to-date, the BMW Group (BMW and MINI combined) is up 11.6 percent on sales of 262,200 in the first nine months of 2013 compared to 234,928 in the same period in 2012.

"September was unusual because of significantly fewer selling days than August, so the more than 8% increase for BMW and another record month for MINI are further fueling BMW Group momentum going into the final quarter of the year," said Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO, BMW of North America.  "October means arrival of the new X5, a full month for the new 4 Series, and the full range of new diesel engines in our 3 and 5 Series cars; just a few of the reasons why we are excited about the next three months."

BMW Brand Sales
Sales of BMW brand vehicles increased 8.3 percent in September for a total of 23,568 compared to 21,761 vehicles sold in September, 2012. Year-to-date, the BMW brand is up 14.0 percent on sales of 212,565 compared to 186,397 sold in the first nine months of 2012.

In September, best performing vehicles included the 7 Series, up 271.3 percent to 1,723 units; the X5 SAV, up 21.7 percent to 4,686 units; and the X1, up 17.5 percent to 1,844 units.

BMW Pre-Owned Vehicles
In September, sales of BMW used vehicles (including certified pre-owned and pre-owned) increased 1.9 percent to 13,877 vehicles compared to the 13,624 vehicles sold in September, 2012. January through September, BMW used vehicle sales are up 7.8 percent on volume of 132,136 compared to 122,576 in the same period of 2012.

MINI Brand Sales – best September ever
MINI USA reported the best September ever with sales of 5,306 automobiles, an increase of 8.3 percent from the 4,899 sold in the same month a year ago. Year-to-date, MINI sales in the U.S. are up 2.3 percent on volume of 49,635 compared to 48,531 in the first nine months of 2012.

hmmm...5 series sales seem to have cooled a bit in Sept. even with a refreshed model

the refreshed model just came out in September as inventories are low and yet double the sales of the Audi A6. I am surprised how much the 7-series dominated the segment and the aging X5 still sold well with no real incentives in place

...and yet the Q5 outsells the X1, X3 and X6 COMBINED.

Cali shouldn't your message be the BMW 3-series/4-series sold more cars in the US than the A3, A4, A6, R8, A8 combined ....

Now I consider myself pretty good at math so I am puzzled by the statement that the Q5 sold more cars this month that the X1, X3 and X6 combined. Last time I checked 4,000 was greater than 3,200 ....

september is the transition month for the 5-series and X5 model year. 2014 5-series are just rolling on the lots in the past week or so.

@BMW4me4ever, you should not be surprised the 7 series had good sales for Sept...it should enjoy it while the KING S Class undergoes a costume change and takes it rightful place at the throne again.

As it should since it is a Stunning looking car inside and out. I am just surprised at how well the 7-series has done this past month in which being 5 years old sold 3x more than the Audi A8

BMW 7-series sales will fall off dramatically once the new Mercedes-Benz S-class goes on sale in the U.S.

In 2014, sales of BMW's X1 will also likely take a huge hit due to Audi's U.S. launch of its Q3 compact SUV, which outsold its BMW X3 counterpart more than 2 to 1 for September 2013 and by more than 8,500 units YTD.

yeah. How's the rest of Audi's lineup doing? Getting outsold 2 to 1, that's how.

you are just mad since the 3-series BMW & new 4-series outsells your entire automobile lineup for Audi which is the A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, & A8 ...

the S-class is STUNNING and it's going to be more expensive than the 7 by a good margin. doubt it will have much impact on the 7.

so by your idiotic reasoning then, the LS doesn't compete against the 7-series despite you always comparing their sales to one another.

You heard it here folks, this genius now states that because the S now costs more...it no longer competes against the 7-series, NOT because the S absolutely slaughters it in sales! Hahaha!

BMW's lead over Audi in the U.S. market will shrink as Audi continues to release new models that solidify the brand's core philosophies.

You've been saying that for years. Meanwhile BMW growth continues to outpace Audi's in the most important market, and the one major market Audi was dominating at one time -- China. Maybe Audi needs to focus more on that.

You'll see Audi's global sales figures soar starting in March of next year once the A3 sedan is launched in all of its intended major markets.

The A3 sedan is already on sale in Europe and will go on sale in China by the end of 2013.

There's always something coming around the corner that's going to make the magical difference with you. Guess what? Mercedes has the CLA, BMW will have a 1-series sedan, etc. Everyone has cars around the corner. It's hardly an Audi-specific phenomenon.
