Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake To Be the Last MFA Variant

Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake To Be the Last MFA Variant
Only four Mercedes models will be produced on front-wheel-drive architecture (MFA Platform) instead of the previously stated five. It looks like the lucky one to not get the axe will be the CLA Shooting Brake, a highly stylized wagon that will draw design cues from the larger CLS Shooting Brake.

Don’t look for the shooting brake in the U.S. however as it seems Mercedes doesn’t think Americans are fond of wagons and shooting brakes.

The higher ups at Mercedes-Benz told Car and Driver that rather than develop an all-new SLA roadster, it makes far more sense to put the investment and effort into something with thick profit margins and a glamorous image. Likely referring to the upcoming S-class convertible.

Would rather have this than the GLA ... but being that I'm in the USA, I have to resist complaining: when it comes to something akin to a sport coupe hatchback, I'm forced to go buy Asian.

The name “Shooting Brake” sounds so stupid.

That's not a shooting brake. A real shooting brake is a Ferrari FF or a BMW Z4 hardtop. This is a wagon.

Correct. A "shooting brake" is a 2-door station wagon. This is just a station wagon.
