While the 6 speed automatic might have been a better choice for the drag stirp, the new Vette ended up running a 12.4 @ 116 MPH. With a better launch the new Corvette is an easy high 11 second car for just $51,000.

Interesting... From this angle, the rear 3/4 of new vette reminds me of the Testarossa. I've not been crazy about the looks and that might help me understand why though I look forward to seeing it in the flesh.

I'm appalled at what they have done to this car...The C6 especially in Z06 and Gran Sport guise (flared rear quarter panels) was so much better looking.

This thing is way too busy and the rear is just HIDEOUS. I hope in the flesh is not as tupperware plastic as it looks...

Don't worry guys, in real life it looks pretty damn wicked. This design is actually quite cohesive -- I don't even think the circular taillights that so many people lament the loss of would have looked very appropriate on this car. My one gripe with it is the front radiator grille just isn't quite as scary hardcore looking as it could be. Maybe the Z07 will fix that.

About the only thing that people seeing it have said, in a derogatory tone, is that it looks too much like a Ferrari. I don't know about that, but I can't see how making your car look 5x as expensive as it really is amounts to a "bad thing" anyway.

The C6 Z06 looks really nice. But next to the C7... much less nice than on its own, heh.

I am all for big departures in design, myself, because in a way it gives each generation its own identity.
