2014 Toyota Corolla Joins Camry, Prius V And Rav4 As IIHS As Small Overlap Crash Test Flunkies

The redesigned 2014 Toyota Corolla – one of the automaker’s most important models — earned a Marginal rating in the new and challenging small overlap frontal crash test, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety said on Thursday.

The results are the latest indication of Toyota’s struggles to score well on this test. No Toyota vehicle has yet received the highest rating of Good in the small overlap front test. In December, when the 2013 Camry and Prius V were tested, both received the lowest rating of Poor. So did the 2013 RAV4, in July, despite changes to the steering column and footwell padding. The Scion tC is the only Toyota vehicle to get an Acceptable rating. In contrast, five of eight Honda models tested have received ratings of Good.

Their response? Run more ads touting their so-called alleged reliability or how 80% of corollas are still on the road (obviously just not the ones that suffered an overlapping collision..).

To be honest Toyota has never been about crash results. Their track record is always at or below the middle of the pack.

because any car in an overlap accident is still on the road? And you can say what you like but you don't think Corolla's are reliable? Go back to your troll hole.

Hey tattedtwice, what do you mean "alleged reliability"??? You are indeed very ignorant and yes, a fool, if you do not believe Corollas are reliable. They are not just reliable, but one of THE MOST RELIABLE if not THE most reliable vehicle. Hey man, I see more older Corollas on the road than any Government Motors, Ford, Chrysler or any other vehicles, man. And right on, 800over and MrEE. Your information is indeed correct.

As we speak, seems like:
Honda > Toyota however Acura < Lexus and by a margin.

Agent009 couldn't be more wrong about Toyota's crash safety. In the 90's they lead the industry. Sienna which I still own was top in it's class.

Dead accident victims in heaven like to brag that they died in a Toyota.
