SPIED + VIDEO: Porsche's Mid-Life REFRESHED Cayenne Is CAUGHT On The Streets Of Stuttgart!
It feels like the all-new Porsche Cayenne debuted only yesterday but, unfortunately, it's been a couple of years now and while it's a very good offering in the market, the competition is getting much more fierce.

With all-new sport-utility vehicles like the Range Rover Sport and BMW X5 making their way to dealers, Porsche has to fight back quickly. We're assuming that is the purpose of the revamped Cayenne.

We're guessing that Porsche will follow the strategy it played out with the 2014 Panamera. A new six-cylinder that produces upwards of 400 ponies, is more fuel efficient and weighs less while making some cosmetic modifications to the front/rear clips and headlights/taillights.

Other than apparant reshaped tail and headlamps there appears to be no change.I think Porsche has been able to get away with tepid design updates for it's vehicles for a long, long time. The 911 has made very small increments in design evolution. The Cayenne and the Macan look a lot alike. The Cayman/Boxster show a little bit more design progress but not all that much.Further these can be very expensive cars with options. The market is only so large for 50 to 120 grand sportscar/performance SUV. Jaguar has jumped directly into the fray with the F Type convertable and soon to the market coupe.Further Jaguar is now coming out with an SUV within a couple of yrs. The new Corvette has certainly upped its game in styling and refinement. There are some real choices for people outin the market place now.Can Porsche continue to get away with "same old" styling and expensive pricing for ever. I'm not so sure anymore.Porsche may be the slightly better drivers car then Jaguar or Corvette. But most of that is only realized on a race track and not by a large margin.Out on the road I think it's a tougher sell to spend 20% more on vehicles that may be only less than 1% better to drive and have very conservative styling.

Very good points.

BUT, I do contest several of things:

1) While Porsche's vehicles may be perceived to have "not changed much" over the years their footprint has gotten bigger and the motors have been thoroughly reworked. The 911 is a vehicle that's been developed over 50 years now. I don't see that as a bad thing considering how reliable they are.

2) The BIG changes have been on the interior. Sit in a 993 and then sit in a 991. HUGE changes inside their vehicles.

3) The Cayenne and Macan's differences will be MUCH more apparent shortly. The Macan will have a more sleek roofline and be approximately the size of an Evoque.

Thank God!! Now maybe the ridiculous resale on 2011+ cayennes will come down a bit. Don't get me wrong, they're great trucks, but on the used market Cayenne S can be in the same bracket as X5M! Also the new range sport is incredible inside. There's no reason a 3 year old cayenne with 50k miles should be worth 70% of its MSRP...

My 2 cents
