This is an unnecessary step for Mercedes into a segment that doesn't need any new players. Millions of dollars will go into R&D, then marketing and distribution for probably little return.

While true...Benz always seems to pull off coupes better than other marques...hence the CLS/CLA, I think this may have a chance because many potential buyers of the M Class are asking for a sleeker sexier design.
