Here We Go AGAIN! GM Goes Ghetto With Focus On Subprime Market To Fuel Sales
President Obama has touted General Motors as a successful example of his administration's policies. Yet GM's recovery is built, at least in part, on the increasing use of subprime loans.

The Obama administration in 2009 bailed out GM to the tune of $50 billion as it went into a managed bankruptcy.

Near the end of 2010, GM acquired a new captive lending arm, subprime specialist AmeriCredit. Renamed GM Financial, it has played a significant role in GM's growth .

Grow up and stop being so sensitive. Put away your PC police badge and stop going through life looking for things to be offended by.

Please stop or you're going to make me cry...I promise, I'll do it!

We are in a media-driven world that allows for folks and businesses like you, myself and Autospies to be more accountable..All it takes in one f-up like this is bye-bye $100k ad spot. Would you say its worth it?? Esp if the title could have been a bit more mature, neutral. Error on the side of caution?? Maybe not

IT ISNT MY MONEY, I JUST WORK FOR THE AGENCY THAT PLACES THE ADS LOL

BTW, you're an idiot MBCLS07

Common on 009, even you can come up with a better title than "GM Goes Ghetto" in order to push your political agenda. Its time to put a muzzle on your prejudices and keep the focus on why we bother to come to this site - - - cars.

Agreed, or at least include "Trailer Park" along with "ghetto" so we include ALL families whom will take advantage of this ridiculous deal

You have a better suggestion?

It isn't a political decision but GM is purposely targeting the credit disadvantaged.

Ghetto-(adj.) poor; of or relating to the poor life

How long until someone thinks to put Payday Loans & Check Cashing operations in GM dealerships?

After all you can get the first cut from the check for your car loan and get a check of a fee for cashing the check in the first place. No need for a bank account to buy a car, simply deposit in GM's bank and they give you the remainder after they get the payment.

It's pretty sad that some of the commenters here choose to take issue with the choice of words in the title rather than the substance of the article—that GM is seeking sub-prime buyers just a couple years after such irresponsible practices sent the country into an economic tailspin. Classic low-information voter mentality.

Well had this really been "news", perhaps. However, this isnt anything new, just late. BTW, all car companies have geared up their sub-prime lenders..Its good business, esp. in our current "unpredictable" market. What a waste of comment...

Comment on the article, fool, when you get done pulling your head from 009 azz...oops!

GM should focus on designer cars in ways that make them more AFFORDABLE to people with low incomes and poor credit scores.

But they don't. Instead, the marketing NITWITS who continue to run this bankrupt company focus on making more and more "premium" cars with "premium" packages, then focus their energy marketing those overpriced behemoths towards people who cannot possibly afford them.

These people are the lowest of the low.

So GM focusing on the least able to pay and most risky sector to drive sales isn't a problem?

Those with good memories should remember the subprime market crippled GMAC not that long ago, and we are going there AGAIN? Risky proposition especially since they are risking tax payer dollars still.

If GM has issue again they will have learned NOTHING! Maybe not, I guess have learned they can get bailed out for stupid decisions and poor planning while leaders line their pocket with money.

Did anyone expect the liar and thief in chief to do anything except lie, deceive and cover up the truth? He is a delusional failure at most everything he does. Worst president in U.S. history. Move over Carter, you are not longer low man on the list.

Obama isn't the worse president in history. Not even close. Ever heard of Coolidge? I doubt it. And Nixon... The president that was forced to resign. So Obama is worse than a president that was forced to resign? Wow!! You guys make up your own reality.

Or maybe it because of Bush and his thugs that created the housing bubble launching the the greatest recession of all time, or perhaps it was Bush and his Thugs that started a war on false pretenses and tricked the American people out of trillions of dollars.

President Obama cant even tend to his legacy because he had to clean up that disgusting mess Bush and the Republitards left him
