Toyota Drops Prius Plug-in Price By $2000 Hybrid Amid Floundering Sales
Toyota Motor Corp. said Wednesday it is cutting the price of its Prius plug-in hybrid electric vehicle by more than $2,000 — the latest automaker to cut prices of electric vehicles in the face of less than expected demand.

The Japanese automaker reduced the price on the 2014 Prius Plug-in Hybrid by $2,010 to $29,990 — a 6 percent price cut. The automaker is also cutting the price on its 2014 Prius Plug-in advanced model by $4,620 to $34,905 — an 11 percent price reduction. That model has more features including navigation and infotainment, heated front seats and a heads up display.

Moe Durand, a Toyota spokesman, said the new pricing was a reflection of its competitors’ moves.

The price is not the problem, is the 13 miles battery only range.
Match or surpass the Volt 40 miles battery only range and sales will do fine.

So drop the price $2000 so that you're way cheaper than the volt....but surpass the Volt's electric only range. Oh and is there anything else on your wishlist?

It is more like 9 miles, not 13, and not on the highway, and not if you need the heater or the AC, and not if you need to pass someone or go up a hill.

Pathetic, Toyota, truly pathetic. This may have worked back in 2007, it won't work today.

The positive way to look at this is, if someone is looking for a new loaded Prius, now they do not have much of an excuse not to get one with a plug.

Its ugliness has nothing to do with it or its base Corolla junkiness to drive either.
