New Cadillac Platform Could Spawn Buick Flagship

General Motors’ premium brand might use the new full-size rear-wheel drive platform primarily being developed to underpin a new full-size sedan for Cadillac to build a Buick Flagship according to a report from Automobile Magazine.

While there hasn’t been any official confirmation about the plan, GM president Mark Reuss hasn’t been shy about discussing gaps in Buick’s product line. While answering questions about whether or not GM would offer an answer to Ford’s SVT Raptor pickup, Reuss cited more pressing gaps that need attention, including Buick.

Surprised Cadillac managers have the gall to permit their designers to WASTE TIME fucking around and sketching concepts that:

(1) Only 1% of buyers can afford.
(2) Will never add any meaningful revenue to GM's bottom line.

I don't come to work every day and draw pictures of fucking UNICORNS. Why do GM employees, whose salaries are subsidized by the Taxpayers, get to fuck around all day at their jobs?

On the contrary. Premium models make larger margins than the bread and butter models. Also, concepts are a very important part of the design process. The company will release them and look for feedback so they know what stylistic elements they should include or exclude from the production model.

You have no idea what you're talking about, randy3023. Have you every had any sort of loan? Did the receiving of that loan somehow mean that someone could dictate, let's say, what you eat for dinner? What you paint your house?

Do you even know anything about concept cars? Any idea how they not only spur innovation, but features that appear in them often turn up in production models?

Concept cars AREN'T designed to sell, which makes your entire point a bid silly.

No, as the taxpayer who bailed these losers out, I do now get to dictate what their failed, bankrupt corporation should be focusing on. (1) I'm not bailing them out again, and (2) I want some ROI. My vote is they focus on mass-producing volume leaders and improving quality — not sketchy, unsellable pet projects like this and the Elmiraj.

By making a Buick RWD to combat the 300C, that allows Buick to do an "S Class" for the price of an "E Class" which would generate sales and amortize the Elmiraj (please Cadillac use names). A Buick Invicta with an 8 speed small twin-turbo V6 would be a great Invicta, I'd also love to see a Riviera that is stylish like Rivieras used to be and an Eldorado for Cadillac.

The old geezers who buy a Buick are not the customer for this flamboyant show car.
The theme of this Buick appears to be ripped off the Lincoln theme. GM's styling team must be bankrupt of ides.
