Perhaps Rover has a case of "sour grapes," in that they're getting lackluster sales and they assert they don't want to be a raging success.

Let's also not forget that BMW spent billions to buy Rover and MINI, only to discover that Rover was a bigger problem than they ever imagined. Not too long afterwards, BMW paid to have a consortium take Rover off their hands. That's right: BMW PAID the buyers to take Rover!
