Mercedes-Benz Reveals Next Gen C-Class Interior - Have They FINALLY Outclassed The A4?
Mercedes-Benz has revealed limited details to its new fourth-generation C-class saloon, more than two months before it is due to make its world debut at the Detroit motor show.
Although the new BMW 3-series and Audi A4 rival is yet to be officially unveiled, Mercedes-Benz says the new C-class will be a significantly more advanced car than its predecessor in terms of construction, with a “best in class” weight figure and a level of structural integrity that it describes as being “unparalleled” in its class.

I gotta say, that interior makes the next Gen C an instant classic

Pretty impressed with the exception of that appendage on the center stack (nav/info screen). I'm sure it's more cost-effective that way, but it's just not visually appealing and looks a bit cheap.

Hate the round vents and the screen which looks like an afterthought by the designers. I sat in a CLA recently, and was really unimpressed with the interior which was similar looking. Also really cheap materials were used, but you get what you pay for i guess.

this looks more on par with the new A3, especially with the round vents that Audi has been using for years now. It's hard to say without actually touching the C-class materials, but I sense a cheapness to them. Benz has to cut costs somewhere to get their price point, and I bet it's in the quality of interior materials. I could be proven wrong, but we'll see.

Mercedes-Benz has not outclassed the A4's interior with this new C-class by any means. In fact, two recent reviews of the Mercedes-Benz CLA prove how Mercedes-Benz has used cheap plastics in the interior:
Car and Driver's review of the CLA45 AMG:
"Performance aside, the CLA45 has a hard time hiding its comparatively humble origins. The interior follows M-B’s current design ethos, but a quick look at the plastics around the lower center stack and bottom of the door panels reveals where a lot of the cost cutting took place. We noted the car’s Jupiter Red finish peeking through a gap between the door panel and trim on the B-pillar, and the 5.8-inch display screen looks like an aftermarket unit due to the way it’s positioned atop the dash."
USA Today even wrote an article bashing the interior of the CLA:
"Interior. Lots of talk among the auto writers about the inside being "cheap" or "cheesy." M-B says it hasn't heard those comments, even though the CLA's been on sale overseas long enough for such feedback.
A couple of the test cars had embarrassing misfits of trim, which M-B says shouldn't have been there and aren't present in showroom vehicles.
Screen for the optional navigation system sticks up and out from the dashboard. It's supposed to resemble an electronic tablet, like those that M-B believes are beloved by Gen Y.
Some journalists found it cheap-looking, Test Drive and others liked the look and function. Mounting it away from the dash puts the screen closer to line-of-sight, and tucks it further into the car's interior to shade it against sun glare.
Overall, the CLA is disappointing. Yes, it has a lot of features and stature for the price. And the styling's nonpareil. But, no, it's not all the way there in refinement and premium persona, which largely are what make a luxury brand worthwhile."

Nuttie, this has NOTHING to do with the CLA. This is about the C-Class. And none of your usual justification bullsh*t about why you inserted completely irrelevant details to a thread as you have a habit of doing. Stick to the subject matter or leave it be.

This has NOTHING to do with the CLA, cidflekken? Look at the aftermarket-looking, tacked on infotainment screen. Which all-new compact Mercedes-Benz first had such a screen? I thought so.

yes, Nuttie. We're talking about the C-Class, not the CLA. Maybe you need to educate yourself on the alphabet. So, let's use your justification. The S-Class and the C-Class both have the 3-pointed star. I guess the C-Class is as good as the S-Class.

I have to agree with GermanNut here. That info/NAV screen tacked on in the center of the dash screens cheap!

Hey cidflekken, PAY ATTENTION! He was talking about a FEATURE that was just implemented on the CLA, which is literally identical to this rendering hence his comment. Your idiotic attempt to compare 2 MODELS on opposite spectrums of the lineup with a horrendous fail.

That dash is CLA grade... the ATS is much nicer. The current C Class has a better dash, but also it has too much bare space. ATS is better and is also better than the A4. A4 is nice but dated....

Who cares if they're new, what...does you having some supposed "seniority" allow you to continue to post stupidity? If you didn't give a "shiz" you would've ignored them instead of responding.

This looks very nice interior. I own an Audi 6er and love the interior on it. I have to say, as a former owner of BMW products, I think Benz AND Audi take BMW on the interior quality.
My wife recently got a new Benz GLX SUV. The interior quality is outstanding in it. We looked at BMW's X3 (and 3 series sedan too). Talk about CHEAP plastic dash, center console. The sedan ALWAYS has the NAV screen up (the other models don't have it sitting on top).

Busy and contrived as usual and suitable for pimps, drug dealers, ballers, and people with taste in their mouths. Audi would NEVER do anything this busy and incoherent.

I'm surprised Mercedes-Benz decided to use the same cheap, aftermarket looking infotainment screen from the entry level CLA class in its supposedly much more luxurious and higher-end C-class. That is pretty pathetic considering the CLA has been routinely criticized for its cheap plastics and awkward, low-quality looking infotainment screen.
I'm afraid Mercedes-Benz has come up short as Audi's interior on its current A3 sedan is likely higher quality than what Mercedes-Benz has created for the new C-class.

Even though I dont like benz I can say with a straight face that this embarrasses that boring ass a4. It has more imagination and thought than audi could ever imagine in their wildest wetdream. And Im sure its exterior will look and drive far better too, but we'll see soon enough...
