Viper to move upmarket; Firepower nears approval
Chrysler has decided to move the 2008 Dodge Viper slightly upmarket from its current price point, creating a gap for the Chrysler Firepower, reports the U.K.'s Car Magazine. The publication indicates the Firepower is moving ever closer to approval, echoing media reports from as early as January. At the Detroit auto show, Chrysler CEO Tom LaSorda said the Firepower was still "on our agenda." In May, the Canadian Auto Press reported the Firepower Concept was among Chrysler's top considerations.

this looks good, but i don't think for europe.
the viper over here already costs 126000 dollars, witht he steering wheel on the wrong side.

the current and older vipers are crazy unreliable. in one track test comparison article they could not even finish a second lap due to a busted water hose. they really need to step it up to compete with the M6s and Ferrarris

The viper was supposed to be a raw beast, a contemporary cobra. Cleaning it up would kill some of the character. Fixing the reliability issues would be great though. There is already room in the 50-60k range for the Firepower without taking the Viper upmarket.Give it Corvette levels of performance with a comfortable and contemporary interior, with a trunk that can carry a set of clubs and luggage for a weekend getaway, and Chrysler would have a winner.

yeah, the viper needs to stay where it is. its raw, untouched simplicity is what sets is apart and makes it so damn badass. I wouldnt buy one for my first sports car, but definately as a second if i had the cash.
