CR Magazine Ranks The Lexus IS250 And Infiniti Q50 As WORST Expensive Sport Sedans On The Market
Consumer Reports says the heavily advertised 2014 Lexus IS 250 and technology-laden Infiniti Q50 are among the worst expensive sport sedans.

That means they'll drop off the lists of the many shoppers who closely follow the magazine's ratings in their search for a vehicle.

Lexus IS 250:

Though the IS 250 was ranked "good" overall, it had "the worst road test score posted by any Lexus sedan in recent memory. Other competitors posting higher overall road test scores include the BMW 328i, Mercedes-Benz C250, Lincoln MKZ 2.0 EcoBoost and Volvo S60 T5," CR says.

Pretty harsh words there but not a real surprise at all.

It was all a misunderstanding...the editors at CR ate bad sushi and sought revenge by denouncing cars from that region...an apology will be issued shorty

I don't believe nothing that CR or JDP have to say. They need to stick to testing toasters.

Agreed, but a lot of people weight CR into their buying process and sales will hurt.

I feel bad specially for Infiniti

lexus buyers are consumer reports readers, so bad news for lexus. even this boring magazine found the IS250 to be a boring car.

“neither sporty nor luxurious” with acceleration that “lacks punch.” Editors were also disappointed with their observed overall fuel economy of 21 mpg (EPA rating is 20/23/27 mpg city/combined/highway). Furthermore, Consumer Reports found the IS 250 to have “vague-feeling” steering, “elevated” road noise, and a cramped interior. Editors also weren’t enamored by the infotainment system and its “fussy” mouse-like controller.

Oh, so suddenly CR is only on target when it slams Lexus but not your beloved BMW?

"...so who do we trust for car reviews...the toaster oven rating agency OR car & driver?"

"...consumer reports does suck when it comes to reviewing cars. they tend to love appliances. but they are right, so why attack them?"

i'm consistent. i just said even this boring magazine thinks this car is boring. and they generally like cars that offer as much excitement as a toaster oven.

When did CR start trying to become a credible automotive resource?

This is what happens when you start to over price your cars, to be in terms with the expensive germans. I love both of these cars but Lexus and Infiniti are pushing it with the price. It all started when Lexus brought out the IS250 and 350 back in 2006. They got in their own heads that just because the IS 350 was so much more powerful than the 330i then their work is done and they started charging a comparable price. They didn't know that it was just the beginning and that they had to keep it up. The new 350 is closer to justify its price than the 250. IS250 F sport for 40K!..why?

I am not saying that the Germans are fine and immune to criticism because they also do the same just because they can but I feel that the G and the IS are not there yet... not with those engines.

Please, the IS is a great vehicle. Car and Driver did a comparison against the Bimmer and put it on top. Now CR says the 250 is overpriced and drives harshly. Surprise, surprise it is a sports sedan and should feel harsh. Also, for what you get in the Q50 it is very reasonably priced.

Yeah, as these two cars evolve they're looking more and more like cars for space aliens.
