Though it's hard to believe, one of the more controversial cars this year — so far — has been the all-new 2014 Toyota Corolla. Why, you ask?
Well, that's because it isn't all that different from the outgoing car, according to journalists. Its motor is a carryover and it has rear drum brakes.
BUT, as Consumer Reports points out in the video below it also has plenty to like. Its test model that it picked up from a dealer has a nice back up camera and an automatic climate control system. As the reviewer points out, if it skipped the $850 sunroof, the car would clock in under the $20,000 mark. AND with the CVT transmission, it's expected to achiever 34-35 mpg.
Given Toyota buyers loyalty and the fact its buyers probably won't care or notice it has the same motor or rear drum brakes,
are reviewers MISSING THE POINT? This wouldn't be the first time. Remember when journalists gave the Volkswagen Jetta a schlacking when it debuted for being "decontented" but then it went on to shoot the lights out from a sales perspective?
