Oklahoma Jury Finds Toyota Guilty And Awards $3 Million Settlement In Unintentional Acceleration Case
Toyota Motor Corp. must pay $3 million in a lawsuit claiming a defect in a Camry caused the vehicle to unintentionally accelerate, leading to an accident that left one woman dead and another injured, an Oklahoma jury said.

The jury awarded $1.5 million for each claim and will consider punitive damages Friday, Graham Esdale, a lawyer for the plaintiffs, said in an e-mail. The jury found the Camry's electronic system was defective and Toyota acted with "reckless" disregard, Esdale said.

Considering the driver is 76 I find it hard to believe it was a defect. Old people hit the gas and go flying through store windows every day or running down people in parking lots. The lady probably just didn't want to live with the guilt of killing her friend.

Oh well, not my money. Where can I rent out a Camry so I can cash in on this too?
