RUMOR: NEW Details Emerge About McLaren's P13, 911 Rival?
It seems as though everyone is starting to try and take a bite out of the Porsche 911's market share these days. Next up, McLaren!

With autos like the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, Jaguar F-Type and upcoming Mercedes-Benz SLC/GT AMG, it seems like there's quite a few offerings in this class now. But if anyone's aiming to produce the most racecar-like vehicle, my money would be with McLaren. It's in the company's DNA.

Said to be smaller than the MP4-12C and focused on being a lightweight auto, it is expected to put up great performance numbers despite only pushing 450 horsepower from McLaren's 3.8-liter V8 powerplant.

While there haven't been many spy shots of the auto yet, there's one set of images of an MP4-12C bodied mule making their way around the web. We posted them when the prototype photographs first came out way back when.

No official word on when we'll first see it though rumblings have hinted at a reveal in 2014. Time will tell.

If Porsche upgraded the Cayman with the Turbo S engine (560 hp, 516 lb-ft) and AWD/PDK/PSM, stripped to RS levels, it wouldn't be a contest - a "Cayman Turbo RS" would absolutely destroy all comers at $125,000. With the GT2RS engine (620 hp engine), this Cayman would be a wet dream. This is also a more comparable size to the McClaren, clearly a small 2 seater which the 911 is not.

Curb Weight: 2980 lbs.
Power/Weight ratio with Turbo S engine: 0.19 (5.3 lbs/HP)
with GT2RS engine: 0.21 (4.8 lbs/HP)

As a comparison, the Ferrari F12 is 0.22 (4.6) but RWD, so loses much of that power without AWD.
