A Marriage Made In Heaven? Investors Call On Apple To Move Forward And Buy Tesla
Taking his lead from billionaire investor Carl Icahn, analyst Andaan Ahmad at German investment bank Berenberg has written an open letter to Apple chief executive Tim Cook and chairman Arthur Levinson. Ahmad calls on Apple to buy electric carmaker Tesla.

The London-based Ahmad -- who says he's covered the tech industry for nearly 20 years -- argued in Friday's letter that Apple's shift into the auto sector could give the company the kind of revenue growth that won't be sustainable from just smartphones and other mobile devices over the longer-term.

Theres an idea! I was thinking it was a matter of time until iOS was built into cars, but Apple owning a car company takes it even further

Bad idea. Apple is a tech company, not a car company. I don't think a tech company needs to own a car company just so it can put its infotainment systems into it. They are better off just developing infotainment systems and selling them to auto companies as a supplier.

Coke doesn't own restaurants so it can ensure its product is the one that is sold in them. It sells its product to the restaurants without having to own them.

Apple makes electronic devices, not motor vehicles.

Arguably Tesla makes mobile phones, the type you sit in. ;)

Why Apple and not Google?

Tesla acts like a tech company not like a car company.

We already have Porsche, we don't need another company that makes only minor revisions to their product and then spends months advertising how revolutionary it is. Or worse, telling me what they think I 'really' need/want in a product.

Apple's vision was buried with Jobs.

Porsche has never claimed to be revolutionary as far as I know... Only evolutionary. Revolution evolution is actually the most accurate description of how modern Porsches drive.

Most people who make silly comments about Porsche either don't know how to drive, or have never driven a Porsche. Usually both...

Why would Apple purchase a doomed auto company? Unless this guy thinks Apple can solve the flammability problem that Tesla has, they would be best to steer clear of this sinking ship.

Pure IDIOCY! Apple knows NOTHING about building car. Heck, this is Tesla's first car that isn't just a Lotus with a bunch of batteries bolted, so even THEY aren't exactly experienced either.
