SPIED: FIRST Pictures Of Jaguar's XJ Sedan Makeover For 2015
In the large, luxury sedan wars there are your typical players: Audi A8, BMW 7-Series, Lexus LS, Maserati Quattroporte and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Oh, and the Jaguar XJ.

Excluding the all-new 2014 S-Class, from what I've driven I'd have to say it would come down to the A8 and the XJ. Both are magnificent luxury sedans that aren't trying to pretend to be something they're not. But with all-new competition and everyone upping their game, the leaping cat has to update its XJ.

Though it feels like it debuted only yesterday, with a polarizing reception, it has aged very well. It still looks great and performs in line with its peers. Now if the company can update the infotainment's software they'll be good to go.

The first spy shots we've found indicate that the refresh will bring slightly revised front/rear bumpers. No word on what else will be getting updated. Not yet, at least.

...This car – caught on roads near Jaguar’s Midlands base – is wearing a very conspicuous disguise front and rear, which attempts to conceal redesigned bumpers.

The changes at the front are quite clear: the huge grille of the current model has been slightly downsized by making it less deep. This has freed up space below the grille for a slightly larger rectangular air intake.

The large intakes in the front lower corners of the bonnet are now a bigger and cleaner design...

The XJ looks like a huge hatchback. Is Ian Callum so enamored of the Merkur Scorpio that he had to resurrect the ugliness? He's probably still pissed off that the Bertone B99 is what the XJ should have/could have been and that his XJ is ugly by comparison. At minimum, the tacky piece of plastic, that is supposed to make it appear as if the rear window sweeps over the pillar, needs to be body color. The sooner the XJ loses the hatchback look the better. It's time to FIRE Callum. There's a reason Ford didn't keep him when the flushed Jaguar.

The XJ does not look like a hatchback.

The greenhouse has a nice, elegant line and, frankly, they're doing something right as sales of the XJ when it debuted were MUCH better than the existing vehicle with its traditional look.

Not to mention the CX17 looks unbelievable.

Callum's on fire. Should NOT be fired.

Ian Callum loves hatchbacks, I thought everyone knows that. Sad really, he's stuck in that mode.
